Do the aluminum swingarms have sleeves?

Hey, friends.

I was going through some parts I have and came across this:
The aluminum swingarm I have, looks like it has a steel sleeve where the bearings go.

It's possible this is the remains of an old bearing, but wasn't sure.

Should this be there? or should it just be a raw aluminum hole?

Phooey! Too dark out, the bikes are too close together and they are all covered.
Perhaps the parts fiche might help?
I am pretty sure that the bearing rides inside a sleeve. IIRC?
Could be wrong, it has been a while.

In the fiche, it shows #9 as two being required.
Along with the bearings. #4 is the tube that goes inside the swingarm.
Do you have ALL of the parts shown?

Yeah, those are the bearing inserts or bushing for the pivot bolt.
I have those, and they fit.

It's just the lining of the swingarm I'm wondering about.

Check the ID of the hole to see if it is the correct dia. for the new bearing.

The other side looks like it's the bearing only, from the looks of it.. I'm going to say this sleeve is an old bearing housing that needs to be extracted.

I'll have to see what I can do to get it out.

I believe your correct,it is the remains(sleeve) of the bearing.It can get annihilated when you try to remove it.

Well, here she is!

I ended up welding a 1/8" angle iron piece to the steel bearing sleeve.
The ΔT generated by the welding process increased the ID of the aluminum by approximately 1 mil, while the steel sleeve increased only 1/3 mil.

Regardless, the part came out with a solid 2 whacks of the hammer.
