    Master Cylinder question about parts

Got a new master cylinder today and tore it apart to clean it. Trying to put it back together, and something isn't right. I'm not sure of the order for the pieces of the piston. I've tried a couple different ways, but every time when I try to pull the lever a couple times, the piston gets stuck and takes a beating to get it to come back out.

I've looked at the manual, but I'm not sure if the piston cup is the rubber thing, or if it's the part that's pressed in the end of the spring.

You may need to replace those parts all together.
Did you clean the bore of the master?

I sprayed brake cleaner and ran a rag down there, not sure if there's a better way or not.

I believe this is the order the parts are supposed to go.

I guess the part I keep getting hung up on - if the rubber piece goes at the bottom, wouldn't it block the hole leading to the brake line?

The rubber piece also has wear marks that match the bottom of the piston, so I'm almost certain they go together.

Todd forgot how it goes together.

                This is the correct way.

                .

This photo is a rear master, but the parts fit together the same way...

I honestly cant remember which bike these parts are from. IIRC it was the 82 650 I had for a brief time.
