    Ohlins S36P (SU-143)

I am doing a 1978 gs550 cafe build and have been thinking about using ohlins s36p (su-143) for the rear suspension. I know they are expensive but I love the look of them. They will raise the back up a little over 1/2 inch and I will probably lower the front a small amount depending on the look I'm shooting for. Has anyone used these shocks before? I tried doing a search to get opinions but didn't really come up with anything.

For what you need it for, your far better less expensive option would be a set of KYB piggy backs from a ZRX1100/1200 Kaw. Both compression and preload adjustable, sprung stock for a bike as heavy (heavier) than your 550, -and 14.5" long eye to eye. Can be picked up used for +/-$300USD.

Ohlins are awesome, but unless this bike is really really going to be pushed to its absolute limits, spendy and you'll never feel the Ohlins advantage. I had a set of those KyB shocks but sold already, however if it's an option you'd like to explore, lemme know and I can hunt a set up for you on the ZRXOA board. They sell rather frequently over there as many of those guys have more money than sense/skill the ones who DO have the skill certainly don't use em on their street bikes for the most part (Ohlins)
