    Cannot get forks apart

    Hi
Has anyone dismantled forks from a 1984ish 750? I've studied every fische I can lay my hands on, and it seems these forks were only used during 83-84 on some 750s. The attached pic is from a 1984 GSX750 (ESE). The identifying factor is the anti-dive with the square fitting to the lower leg, as opposed to a diamond shaped fitting.

Firstly, the special tool with the 19mm nut on the bottom does not fit, but I had no trouble removing the screws from the bottom of the legs, which allowed the stansions to move considerably further than they did.
However, it is like there is something else to remove, as it feels like there is something bigger than the seal on the bottom stopping the tube coming right out.

The manual is not very clear on this procedure.

All you have to remove after those allen bolts are out are the clips above the seals. Then slam the tubes like a slide hammer - they'll come out, some are just tougher than others.

As Hampshire said if you have the bolts out and the clips above the seals all you have to do is give the forks a good yank to pop them apart. I've never used the special tool to hold the rods for dis-assembly or assembly of the forks.

        Thanks People

Like so many things, its a lot easier when you have the confidence what you are doing is the right thing.
Took a bit of brute force, but they are both apart now.
