    front fork swap

I've been looking around trying to find some info on what forks can be switched out for the stock ones on my 77 gs750. Can't find any info on what forks possibly from a later gs model...ie gs 850 or 1000. Want to keep the stock rims as i love the spokes, anyone have any idea, done this already...? Any help would be oh so much appreciated.

Me too, I was going to post the same question. I have a 77 GS750 with a single disc but my fork has mounts for a double setup. I think any GS fork from the same era will fit but it will be dual disc so you'll need the entire front end, brakes wheel and fork but I'm new to these bikes. This seems to be a popular question so maybe someone could do a how-to on this topic, converting from dual to single disc???

Upgrade to '80-81 GS850/1000G complete front forks, TT's, calipers and rotors.
Simple upgrade of both forks and brakes.
Forgot, you will need the fender also.

Thanks for the info, that just leaves me with a couple questions. Why do you recommend a fork from the 850 or 1100 and not a newer 750, also are the calipers the same regardless of cc's of engine and whats the TT?

850 upwards have 37mm forks, newer 750s (and older ones) have 35mm. TT stands for Triple Tree (or top and bottom yokes as we would call them over here). The calipers are interchangeable though the mounting brackets are different if the model has a leading axle.

Gotcha, thanks, I should have known what TTT stands for. Manzarr, I just pulled my forks and front wheel to rebuild. Pulled the cover off on the right side of the hub and was pretty surprised to see that it's drilled and tapped for a 2nd rotor so our hubs will work with a double disc setup. I agree with wanting to keep the spoked wheels, classic look.

Great stuff, just sold my car to get some extra cash for this.

The TT just slides right in? No need for any modification?

Now, i'm in need of a new front brake master cylinder. I was thinking of getting a newer more modern cylinder. Only things I could think of that would hinder this would be connections to the calipers and the newer master cylinder for the brake line. Any thoughts?

Check out Salty_Monk's twinpot upgrade thread using newer Kawasaki calipers. I also put on a 2008 Kawasaki Ninja MC on my bike and I love the smooth stopping power I have now compared to before; especially when stoplights change 100 feet in front of you.
