New fork tubes?

I'm doing up my '82 GS1100G and one of the last things I have to address is the fork tubes. This bike is 30 years old and has quite a bit of pitting in the fork tubes. It doesn't interfere with the fork seals yet but I do want to fix it.

I don't have any air suspension malarkey going on - a PO has put progressive springs in there and they seem to work ok. I was going to re-hardchrome the existing tubes but wondered if replacements might be available? I know Suzuki list them as discontinued, but are there aftermarket tubes available?

Any ideas?

I have a couple of places that say they sell fork tubes for a GS1000G - would they be the same as GS1100G fork tubes? They seem to have different part numbers at Bike Bandit but who knows if they are comparing the same things?

But they dont list a GS1100 only GS1000s , no Idea if they are the same.

I brought my fork brace from there, their good people to deal with but perhaps a little dear... that said get a quote from RAD for hard choming, makes the new tubes look like good value...

Thanks John. Yeah that's one of the places I found that does GS1000 fork tubes. I don't know if they are the same, and the price is around the same as re-hardchroming. There's a place here that quoted me $450 to hard chrome the tubes.

Jimmy, your '82 should have the 41 mm fork tubes.
The 1000's are 37 mm.

Well I measured them this week because I had to get my new headlight mounts opened up inside on a lathe to fit the tubes. I wish they were 42mm! But no, they're 37mm. Or according to the micrometer of the guy at the machinist shop, 36.94mm. AFAIK they are the stock forks. All the GS1100G stuff fits them.

I have a set of suzuki inner tubes that are 37mm x 24 & 1/8" long in nice condition. Also have some outer tubes as well.

The 1100GK is the model with the 41 mm forks std 1100g has 37mm

I am forgetting that I up-graded my '82 GS1200G project to the 41 mm GK model TT and forks.

I looked at RAD, and it worked out the same sort of price as the tarozzi's.

Sorry - what's "RAD"? And do Tarozzi do fork tubes? You might be able to tell if you read between the lines that I am clueless about this stuff...
