Spacer or NO spacer? rear caliper bracket

Ok guys I have a 1977 GS750. One website shows a spacer between the caliper bracket and the chain tensioner another exploded view from the GS manual shows no spacer. I am haveing trouble with drag on the rear wheel and keeping the brake side chain adjuster from slacking off.
Should there be a spacer between the caliper bracket and the chain tensioner or NO?

I have not looked at any diagrams, but it's really rather simple.

ALL the space needs to be filled up. If you have a gap somewhere or the caliper is not centered over the disk, you need a spacer.

Hi babes.
I think Steve.is right.. There is a spacer between tensioner and brake caliper bracket... About 4-5 mm thick if memory serves.

I see the difference now. My caliper bracket is wider than the one in the pic. Maybe it's a 1977 only kind of thing. I will send a post a picture soon.
