    Front Brake Lever Not Stock?

    I got a 1980 GS450L with a broken front brake lever. I ordered a replacement handle from a 1980 GS550 off ebay, but it's the wrong thing.

PartShark and BikeBandit both say it's the same part for all '80 450's & 550's, so I'm starting to wonder if the one I've got on my bike isn't stock. I realize now that it doesn't quite match the parts fiches either. It has a little flange protruding downward to actuate the brake light switch (see pictures below).

The lever on my bike. Look familiar to anyone?

    What I got from ebay.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, I have seen that red X before.

How were you trying to attach a picture?

Actually, it says "1/2" on the front. I snooped some more, and between it and the handlebars, it identifies itself as a NISSIN 5C2. I take it that's not stock? I'd appreciate a confirmation just so I'll stop banging my head against a wall.

If anyone does know of what bikes this might be stock on, or how I might find out, that'd be great. I can't find a cheap replacement lever just by searching NISSIN.

Yah, that's definitely off something else. No idea what, but I doubt it's even a Suzuki.

Your best bet might be to find a salvage yard nearby and see if you can locate a lever that works.

If you were in Indy, we'd head down to Cycle Recycle II and Rob could match it up by eye with a new lever in about two minutes. Maybe you have a similar old-skool shoppe around there somewhere with extensive experience in Japanese bikes.
