650E Tire install

So I realize I need to start upgrading safety items on my bike.

I know the front and rear tires are from 2007.

My question is, if I buy new tires and have them installed on the rim but install them back myself, do I need to do any kind of alignment, balancing?

I have never take a tire off yet and am very new to all this. I want to make sure it will be safe to ride after I change out tires, chain, and sprockets.

This is an intimidating procedure for me as I have never taken any tires off etc. before. I am just trying to save money as my tire dealer wants $50 a wheel to put the wheels back on.

If you don't have a bead breaker, you probably will not get the old tires off, you will have to buy one or make one. you will need the spoons to put back on the new tire, you will need a good air compressor as well with a lot of air so you will be able to seat the new tires and pop them onto the rim to seat them properly. You also might need to balance them, but check for the red/whit dot on the tire, line that up with the valve stem, and you will probably be right on the mark for balance.

there is not alignment per say on the front tire once it goes back one, rear yes, make sure your aligned evenly on both sides, chain tension is correct, and your good to go.

check with your local shop, if you bring just the rims with the old tires on, and see how much to remove and put new ones on, could be cheaper.

around here it can be done for as little as 20 per rim, but can be as high as 90 per rim....

There are a multitude of "how to change a tire" threads in the archives, or just do a google search. A couple tire irons are necessary, and rim protectors are recommended. You can balance the assembly yourself too, assuming your wheel bearings are properly smooth. Pretty easy work that doesn't cost a bunch of money.

Well, I am going to just remove the wheels and bring them to a shop and have them put the new rubber on.

I was really asking about just putting the wheels back on. As I have not seen a guide for a E series bike, just the G one in BassCliff's site.

I wanted to make sure there is no special alignment tool, etc like on a car.

not for the front, it's why there are all those spacers and such to keep things aligned, but for the rear you will align it somewhat, so it runs true, right tension on the chain and so that the sprockets and chain all line up properly so you don't wear them out prematurely...

you can visually see if your out, stand behind the bike, spin the rear and you will see how things go.....
