I took mine off of a FL harley (full dress touring bike)... They were "dealer take off" ones from ebay, they seem to be the same height as the OEM ones from my GS550 and they ride like a dream!! They were also pretty cheap. Progressive also has a good set that are a direct replacement, but they are pretty pricey.
Take off one of your shocks and measure it to get the right size, they are listed as either eye to eye or eye to clevis. I'd be careful about changing the ride heights, however, too dramatic of a change and you will change your geometry and this could severely affect your handling.
    Hope this helps.

Again, I've heard good things about progressive, but the price is high. either Air Draggers http://www.progressivesuspension.com...ger/index.html, or 416 http://www.progressivesuspension.com...ies/index.html. both seem to be brushed aluminum. Like I said, mine are OEM Harley and they are gloss black.
You can get progressive shocks from just about anywhere... even JCWhitney!!
        Hope this helps.
