    Works Billet Tracker Lower Shock Mount

    Stock Shocks on the 83 1100E have a threaded side of the clevis mount which secures the bolt.

    Picked up a set of Works trackers however they do not have a threaded mount on the clevis. The stock bolt has nothing to hold on to.

    I found some slightly longer metric bolts with the same pitch and diameter. The threaded portion is longer than the stock bolt which would allow me to secure a nut/washer to the outside of the clevis.

    Would this be enough? I was concerned about possible play/weakness on the threaded shaft of the bolt where the clevis would ride.

    That's weird - on all of the Works shocks I have, the clevis's are threaded on one side. Maybe check with WP to see if they should be for your specific application?

    In either case, a good grade/quality bolt should be fine.

      To be happy and more confident with your install you willl probably want to order 2 bolts with a smooth sleeve and just the right thread on the ends. The sawing action of the theads will chew things up a little till the threads smooth out and wear down but they shouldnt move around to much anyways, but as the threads smash it will leave some wiggle room which is not desired. The shock will still be taking most of the impact as both ends will be fixed.
      Nice new shocks .....treat yourself to a couple nice smooth shaft bolts! lol Mc master or some other specialty fastener place. The other ones should be fine till the good stuff arrives.

        Right on.

        I actually found the shocks second hand that were removed from another 1100e.

        They have been treated to a full rebuild and am very excited to try them out. I overlooked the lower mount, and only noticed it when about to install.

        Any specific grade bolt I should look for?

          I really dont know. Not sure how much it matters in this application.
          Personally I dont think it matters. You may be able to get plated or rust resistant/chrome ones if you shop around.

            Shoulder bolt is the thing you need to put through the lower clevis and not mash threads. Check out boltdepot.com they have a page that gives all of the various dimensions you will want to have in your back pocket when shopping around for the right one.

              Yep.. shoulder bolt.

              10.9 with a fine thread would be best if you can get it.
