Bushing to convert '78 GS1000 axle to '05 GSXR1000 forks?

Anyone know of commercially available bushings? The '78 axle is 7/8" diameter (mostly) and irregularly shaped, but the '05 forks are meant for a 1 1/4" axle. I know I need spacers for the greater fork width as well as to fit larger discs to fit the '05 calipers, but are there bushings out there or do I need to suck it up and make them (or have them made)? Thanks for the insight.

What exactly are you trying to do? Are you trying to use a GS wheel in the GSXR forks?

Yes. I like the GS's 19" wheel so wanted to use it, just upgrade the suspension and brakes.

Since you like the stock GS1000 front wheel, probably the easiest thing to do to upgrade the suspension and brakes is new Progressive springs, new fork oil, and a SaltyMonk brake upgrade.

How gung ho are you on getting Gixxer 1000 forks on your bike? It will take some pretty extensive modifications and custom parts (caliper hangers for the GSXR 1000 radial front brakes especially) to get this proposed mod to work right.

Plus, there's not a part there that's measured in inches.

          It's all in millimeters

I noticed that. It's definitely going to be some work, but I'm in it for the long haul at this point.

              I hope you're a machinist

Everything will have to be adapted

What's the intended application for this bike? Street, drag racing, road racing?

Are you using a mag wheel or a spoke wheel?

Do you have the new front end in front of you?
