Your next question should be "will it fit my bike?" or "should I install it on my bike?"
The answer to both of those would be "NO".
Motorcycle tires work a bit differently than car tires. the 140 tire needs a wider rim to properly support it. If you install it on the rim on your 650, it will be pinched into a tighter radius, which will give you a SMALLER footprint on the pavement.
It might look "cool", but will not work as well as a properly-sized tire.

People talk about 130 being the proper size for GS bikes with 2.5" wide rear wheels. The 650 rear wheel is 2.75" wide so I don't think a 140 will cause problems due to the sidewalls pinching in, although I'm not sure if there is clearance in the swingarm.Ed

IIRC, stock tires worked out to be 120/90. There was not a whole lot of clearance to the swingarm when I mounted a 130 on my 650GD, but it has a 17" rim vs the 16 on the GL. I'll try to get a measurement/pictures for you when I get home, Tom.'83 GS650G
