How To Take Apart GS1100 Rear Shocks??

    Hello All....

I have a set of GS1100 rear shocks that I'd like to take apart. I have a good shock spring compressor but these don't seem to come apart like others that I have worked on.

    Anybody ever done this? Thanks

If they are stock shocks I don't think they are rebuildable

Easy Peasy. Throw them in a dumpster. Buy real shock absorbers.

I know they're not rebuildable, or very good for that matter, but funds are low right now and I just want to clean them up, paint the springs, paint the top shroud, etc... I think they are NOS with moderate shelf wear.

I was able to get them apart....not too bad now that I see how to do it. Here's the problem I have now though....the parts for the adjustable rebound dampening fell apart as the spring came off....I don't see a way to avoid that. Anyway, now I can't figure out exactly how it goes back together... ....anybody been here before? I'll take pics and make a post when (if) I get it figured out.
