gs1100e swingarm in a gs1000s chassis
Having read a few post's here, it seems as though the swing arm is a direct bolt on fit. I currently have this modifacation(1100 arm to 1000 frame) I noticed upon dissassembly, that when the swingarm pivot shaft nut was removed, there was clearance between the frame and swingarm. It would be fairly simply to shim up, but before I go through that process, does anyone here have any input on this matter? Thanks.Current Rides: 82 GS1100E, 00 Triumph 955 Speed Triple, 03 Kawasaki ZRX1200, 01 Honda GL1800, '15 Kawasaki 1000 Versys
Past Rides: 72 Honda SL-125, Kawasaki KE-175, 77 GS750 with total yosh stage 1 kit, 79 GS1000s, 80 GS1000S, 82 GS750e,82 GS1000S, 84 VF500f, 86 FZR600, 95 Triumph Sprint 900,96 Triumph Sprint, 97 Triumph Sprint, 01 Kawasaki ZRX1200, 07 Triumph Tiger 1050, 01 Yam YFZ250F

I think I'd torque the nut back down and check it again. Could be the frame just spread slightly when the nut was removed. Probably not unusual.

Aprox. 1/16 ". almost the thicknes off a washer.Just trying to see what is normal per se'. I believe it would be best to shim it and try not to load the chassisCurrent Rides: 82 GS1100E, 00 Triumph 955 Speed Triple, 03 Kawasaki ZRX1200, 01 Honda GL1800, '15 Kawasaki 1000 Versys

From the Ghost in the Machine
Does it have the spacer (very large O.D. washer) that fits INSIDE the swing arm outer seals.
You may have to use a pick tool to find it as the grease usually sticks them inside.
If they are NOT in there, that could explain the gap.GSRick

1/16" doesn't seem like much. I would definitely torque the nut back down and check everything again, before I'd go shimming things that maybe don't need to be shimmed.
