gs1100e swingarm in a gs1000s chassis
Having read a few post's here, it seems as though the swing arm is a direct bolt on fit. I currently have this modifacation(1100 arm to 1000 frame) I noticed upon dissassembly, that when the swingarm pivot shaft nut was removed, there was clearance between the frame and swingarm. It would be fairly simply to shim up, but before I go through that process, does anyone here have any input on this matter? Thanks.Current Rides: 82 GS1100E, 00 Triumph 955 Speed Triple:twistedevil:, 03 Kawasaki ZRX1200, 01 Honda GL1800, '15 Kawasaki 1000 Versys
Past Rides: 72 Honda SL-125, Kawasaki KE-175, 77 GS750 with total yosh stage 1 kit, 79 GS1000s, 80 GS1000S, 82 GS750e,82 GS1000S, 84 VF500f, 86 FZR600, 95 Triumph Sprint 900,96 Triumph Sprint, 97 Triumph Sprint, 01 Kawasaki ZRX1200, 07 Triumph Tiger 1050, 01 Yam YFZ250F

I think I'd torque the nut back down and check it again. Could be the frame just spread slightly when the nut was removed. Probably not unusual.

Aprox. 1/16 ". almost the thicknes off a washer.Just trying to see what is normal per se'. I believe it would be best to shim it and try not to load the chassisCurrent Rides: 82 GS1100E, 00 Triumph 955 Speed Triple:twistedevil:, 03 Kawasaki ZRX1200, 01 Honda GL1800, '15 Kawasaki 1000 Versys

Possible the previous owner "spread" the frame a little as the rear foot peg frame member may have been touching the swingarm?http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/u...00080021-1.jpg

From the Ghost in the Machine
Does it have the spacer (very large O.D. washer) that fits INSIDE the swing arm outer seals.
You may have to use a pick tool to find it as the grease usually sticks them inside.
If they are NOT in there, that could explain the gap.:cool:GSRick

1/16" doesn't seem like much. I would definitely torque the nut back down and check everything again, before I'd go shimming things that maybe don't need to be shimmed.
