    rear tire

Hey guys, just bought a retired street/strip 81 gs1100e. I will be using this bike for smaller 30min rides, it needs 2 tires, ill be putting a 100/90/19 on the front but the back tire has a odd size, currently mounted is a 140/70/17. I see that shinko has great cheap tire packages on ebay but do not run this size. Can I comfortably put a 130/90/17 on the rear instead of using the size that is on there now? and which shikos are stickier the 777 or the 230's. Thanks guys!

Yes, you can run that size.

BTW, lots of tire threads in the archives.

Yes, in fact 130/90-17 is the correct size, unless the rear rim has been widened or replaced with a wider wheel.

The bike will feel a lot better with the right rubber on there.

The original sizing on the rear tire was actually 4.50 x 17. This converts to 120/90-17. A 130/90 will fit just fine, as I've been running them on my 1100E for over 25 years.
