Rear brake master cylinder hose
Is there any specific type of material needed to replace the hose that connects to the rear brake reservoir to the master cylinder? Like, i know there are fuel grade hoses, but what about brake fluid grade? Or am I over thinking this... LOLTags: None

Why not just get an OEM one from the dealer or put an add in the parts wanted section..cant be very expensive to get one.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

Brake fluid is very different stuff...
I've seen brake fluid cause fairly rapid deterioration in most of the fuel-grade hoses I've used with my brake bleeding setup. Nitrile and Viton, for example, are vulnerable to brake fluid. So far, the yellow Tygon fuel tubing I started using last year seems OK (I don't think it's OK for continuous exposure, though), but just about everything else I've tried fails.
The OEM piece would be the way to go, but it's showing as no longer available.
I would Google for some chemical compatibility charts that mention brake fluid and order up the appropriate tubing at McMaster-Carr.
And don't forget the important last step: SHARE YOUR FINDINGS! What size and material did you order?Last edited by bwringer; 04-10-2013, 09:48 AM.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.

I have no idea what the correct ID would be. 3/8" is 9.525 mm, so it should work fine on a 10mm fitting.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.

I read: 3/8" ID x 1/2" OD Tygon® 2375 Ultra Chemical Resistant Tubing (also 2075 works allegedly).
$2.25 foot... not sure if there is a minimum
This tubing offers an unequaled combination of chemical resistance, clarity, and flexibility. It is virtually unaffected by acids, bases,...
Do your own research as it's not a product backed by Tygon for this purpose...1980 GS1000G - Sold
