Everyone still happy with the Shinko 230???

I was happy with mine, but I don't ride hard and sold the bike before wearing them out. Bwinger (big guy that rides hard) posted a review where he said they handled well, but wore out kind of fast.

I have the 230's on my 1100 and 650.
I put 1400 miles on the 650's set when I went to the Brown County rally last month. Allll that riding in the twisties, I felt confidant with the grip, I trusted them as far as grip goes more than I have with any other tire. I am not an extremely aggressive rider.

I have about 2000 miles on my 1100 set and they seriously show almost no wear.
I rode wet roads a couple times , I slowly and cautiously navigate corners when wet, so once again I can't give a review of extreme performance. Wet roads on a straight road they felt great in the rain.

One thing I did notice just today is some potential cracking on one set, on the front tire, down in the grooves between the tread. Not sure if this is cracking, defect or natural casting.

All I can say is I love the grip and the way the tires let the bike roll naturally and smoothly from side to side when maneuvering.

I have a Shinko 230, size 100/90/19, on the front wheel of my bike and have no complaints.

I went riding through some pretty twisty roads a couple weekends ago and it handled predictably and provided good grip. It was a residential area, so I had to keep it at a moderate pace.

I have a Shinko 712 on the back, which I'm also happy with, but I might pick up a 230 when it's time to replace it, just to see what it's like.

Hey Tom... I'm on my 2nd set of these 230 tourmasters on my 1100E, Good tires, but they do seem to wear a bit faster than the Avons...

I've put about 2000Kms on my first set of 230's. Did some hard riding on them for two solid day, performed as well as my last set of Avon's. Rode them pretty fast through the rain and was very happy with them as well. At almost half the cost of Avon's I'm happy, and I don't have to deal with the cracking issue, which I did have to.

In a nutshell:

Pro:
- Great neutral handling
- Great grip in all conditions - dry, wet, cold, light snow...
- Handling stays consistent for the life of the tire
- Low cost

Con:
- About half the life I usually get from Avon RoadRiders*
- Even with lower purchase price, cost per mile ends up higher than RoadRiders

Conclusion:
- Fantastic tire if you're on a budget and don't pile a crapton of miles on your GS.






*And before some squeaker starts blathering about RoadRider sidewall cracking, hush. Just hush. I refer you to my statement on the matter.

Well I now have 5k miles on my set of 230's. Rear is 75% worn or better. The center wears out quickly. The front is only 25% worn. Still a good tire for the money. I will likely try a different brand in the spring, but would buy these again if money dictates that when its tire time.

I put my first set of Shinko's on my 80' 1000G. I've only put about 7'000 KM's (approx 4'400 miles) and they have a measured 3.22 mm left in wear in the centre.




I've managed to stay of the centre of the tire pretty well this season and with the minor exception of one cracked collar bone I'm pretty happy with myself,the bike and the tires There have been the odd 'second' where I've wondered if the Shinko's are on the same level with the roadriders but that could have probably been said about roadriders at the same 'moment', who's to know. All in all I'm pretty happy so far with the cost for money but I may just be buying another set of roadriders for the next rims, we'll see.

My 230 on the 850 is still fairly low mileage (couple thousand). However, I have not ever gotten it to slip on hot, mushy asphalt in hot weather, here in the Black Hills. The previous Dunlop 404 was like being on a skating rink surface.

My 712 on the 750e is also proving to be non-slip and I push the smaller bike a bit hard.
