    Replace master cylinder

I am currently in the middle of a complete brake overhaul and I would like to replace the square front master cylinder with the round style that would look better with custom handlebars. I have a GS750E with the square headlight and square MC and it looks like the L model has the round MC that I would like to swap instead. Would this be a problem? Does it matter which style I have? I have dual front brakes.

The style wouldn't matter but the size will. The single caliper MC off my 78 10000"C'"is marked 14 for 14mm.IIRC the 2 caliper MC is marked 9/16,yeah it's an inch measurement

      Umm....

      9/16" = 14.28mm

14mm wrench or socket works great for 9/16 bolts in a pinch.

So is the measurement for the volume of the inside of the MC that contains the fluid (bigger MC for dual brakes vs smaller for single brakes)? Or are the measurements for the mounts for the bar? I know I sound like an idiot, but I'm new to all this. I'm mainly doing this for aesthetic reasons more than anything else since I'm not going the stock route.

That's what I get for trusting my memory, the 2 caliper MC on the 1000 is marked 5/8

I forgot, but I think the stock front cylinders aren't going to work with what I'm trying to do. The below link is something similar to what I want to do so the stock front cylinder won't work. What are my options? I see he has the smaller cylinder, but he also only has one caliper?

Are you doing a restoration project of some kind on a GS? Let everyone see what you are doing by posting the details here.

The L model master mounts at a different angle

When going from the square type MC to the circle is there any difference than the mount? Does the bike in the link have the L version MC?
