    progressive rear shock question

I picked up a set of used progressive rear shocks for my 78 GS1083.

The upper mount has a bushing to go over the mounting stud for the eye. It is about 1/8 longer than it needs to be, this allows the shock to have movement back and forth on the stud.

Is this normal or should the bushing be flush with the eye?

    Thanks,
    Daryl

I would rather trust my bike to a technician that reads the service manual than some backyardigan that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix things.

If that tube is too long and the shock moves on it: remove it, cut it so that it is flush with the bushing and use the special stock washers to secure it in place.

you don't want the shock moving laterally. GSX1000E is giving you good advice
