Where is a good place to buy tires?

I'm working on some upgrades for my 81 400L, and it definitely needs new tires. Where would I go to get tires for a motorcycle?

Keep in mind I live in a medium sized city in the middle of Canada, so I don't know if there will be the same types of stores around here as in a major city in the US.

There are a handful of specialty motorcycle shops here, as well as Canadian Tire, Kal Tire, and a bunch if individually owned tire stores.

Does anyone know if these types if stores typically sell the correct tires for my bike?

Also, would a tire store install tires on my bike for me, or would that be something only a motorcycle-specific shop would handle?

I already know the size of tires I need for my bike, so I don't need a rundown if front and rear sizes.

    Any info is appreciated.

    Thanks!!

I recommend using the internet to order tires. Also, Avon makes good tires for reasonable prices.

This is the place to get tires in canada...prices are very close as you will get out of the states and shipping will be free as it will be over 100 dollars. Takes about a week. And +1 on Avon..good tire. Good price.

Okay, so I may have spoken too soon about knowing the proper size tires for my bike. The owner's manual I have states the tires sizes as:

            Front: 3.60S19 4PR
            Rear: 4.60S16 4PR

However, I don't really understand what that means, and those websites are asking for Width, Aspect, and Rim Size.

How do I determine these figures? I've never had to size a tire before, so I'm not really sure what I'm looking for.

            Thanks!

I just did a price comparison, between Pete's and Canada Motorcycle,,,,Pete's was 5 bucks cheaper....LOL

If I was getting more stuff, then the free shipping if over a hundred bucks is a better deal and I would go with Canada Morotcycle, but I don't have to get anything else at the moment....

Tires are the last item of purchase for my rebuild...

I tried to buy from Pete's before and they told me the tires were in stock. Then 3 days later they called and said "sorry we a made a mistake, we don't have them". Tried again a year later (partly because the owner sent me an email apology) but again didn't have the sizes. Plus shipping costs are a lot more than the 5 bucks a tire you save.

I had no issue with Pete's other than them sending me the wrong sized tires the first time, I had a new set the day after, so that was OK.

The 5 bucks I mentioned was the difference between the 2 after tax and shipping, one was 335 the other was 340, both places showed as in stock, but until the actual order is made, one never knows....

Spyug ordered tires from Canada Motorcycle, no issues at all, and I even had him get me bearings at the same time, it worked out because of the free shipping....

I know everyone loves Pete's. I cannot abide paying 25-35% more. Which is what it ends up as when shipping to the west coast and charging both taxes which they are obliged to collect.

I don't care which store it is, so long as the price is the best I can get...
