    Master cylinders

    I'm taking apart my master cylinders for what I hope is just a clean & inspect. If all looks good, will I be ok to re-use, or should I plan on replacement piston & cup sets?

    Personally, I would replace the sets but that's just how I do things.

      +1 with Cowboy. I just did a caliper/MC rebuild and gouged the piston in the caliper and the piston in the MC was totally nasty!

      Here's some pics to look at...I have other pics in there but disregard those.



      You'll feel much better knowing you replaced all the internal moving parts. I replaced the original front brake line with a braided line and the stopping power has improved dramatically!

        It wouldn't bother me to reuse the parts if they look good. Can't fault replacing them either. If money's tight, reuse. Don't attempt to reuse your old brake lines though.

          I have been reusing them forever, if they are not damaged. Never had a problem from it. At least you know they are the right parts, and you know you won't have to wait for them.

            Thanks guys. Heading to HF for snap ring pliers, then I'll see what they look like.

              Yep, that's the tool you'll need to remove the piston in the MC. Also, if the dust cover isn't pliable and doesn't seat properly, I'd replace it too.
