What rear sprocket/carrier will fit my '78 GS550E?

Posted earlier and got no responses, so my question is this:

What sprocket/carrier combo will fit my '78 GS550E?
    I ordered a '79 GS550 (no designation E/L) sprocket/carrier combo off ebay and it doesn't fit so I assume I probably ordered an L.

There are no 77-79 GS550E sprockets available online that I can find with minimal searching. So what else will fit?

You have a drum or a disc rear brake? I don't think there are any differences other than that. I have a GS1000 carrier on my 550 right now, it fit exactly like the 550 one.

The sprocket itself should be the same as any other GS as far as I know.

Life is too short to ride an L.

      I have a rear drum.
I would have thought that they fit since what I bought is supposedly only 1 model year different, but they dont.
You can see here what my problem is: http://imgur.com/Q9x51jn
The OD on the carrier is larger than the ID on the wheel.

The drum and the disc ones are different.

Actually I just looked at both my 550s, one is disc and one is drum. Without taking it apart and examining them I'm not so sure they are different after all.

Not sure what's up with yours. Check some part numbers, that one may be off a smaller GS or even some different bike.

I can cross reference the part numbers you need. Feed me the part numbers and I can tell you which models use the same numbers.

if he goes to Alphasports, he can do it himself!

(other cross reference sites are available upon request!)
