GS1100 Rear wheel on GS550E

Ok what problems would there be with swapping a GS1100 wheel on to my 1979 GS550E besides bearing and spacer, will there be an aligment problem with chain or is offset on GS1100 compensated for wider rim, Thanks

Dunno about the 1100, or which model you have, but I put 1978 GS1000 wheels on my '78 550E and they both fit perfectly once I put in the smaller rear wheel bearings.

Excluding L models, all our 1100s had a 17 inch rear wheel and the 8 valve 550s 18 inch. Apart from that some 1100 wheels will fit - depends on the model.

Yes, the OD and width are the same, the ID was smaller for the smaller axle. Standard sized 550 wheel bearings.

1100 wheel is the same as the 1000 wheel (except the spoke pattern).

what size tire did you run on the 550 with the 1000 rim on it

Do you know what bearings you used I just got a set of bearings from allballs racing and they
do not fit at all
