    widening swingarm pivot point

    Hey guys n gals.
Not a stranger here as I've been lurking in the background for a while
I'm looking to put a completely different swingarm in a 550 frame. I know the bandit fits with ease as I've already been there and done that. I'm looking at fitting a triumph 955i single sided arm and wheel.
If I remember the new arm is 284mm, so too wide for a standard frame. Has anyone widened their frame to do such a swap, I'm no stranger to a welder just like to know if its been done and any advice on the concept
    Cheers

Can't help, but I'm guess you could narrow narrow the swinger?
I also don't remember how wide the GS and how much "modification is required"

IIRC, the 550 swinger is only about 7.25" wide at the pivot point. You would have to go over 2" wider and would break all of the stock welds for starters.
Why not start with a 1000 frame?

Thanks for the quick replies guys. Due to the design of the swinger you can't really narrow it down any more than what it is.
I know I would have to cut and replace the lower frame rai and any other welds aren't really an issue.
I didn't use a thou frame as they're rare and expensive over here and this 550 was a bargain
