Looks like a classic Suzuki star wheel. You need a 19" front and 17" or 18" rear for your 1000.

Hi not sure what bike there exactly from but the front is 19 and rear is 18, one side of the wheel is like a star shape where the disc bolts go, I can post pics later on today if needed the rear is off the same bike.
          Thanks

So you think they will fit a 78 even if they are from a later model? I just wanted to make sure before a bought them also if I do get them I was going to get them powder coated black

Those wheels should fit your bike, but if the rear is from a 550 you will need new wheel bearings that accept the 1000 axle.

Should be a direct bolt on, assuming you have the proper spacers.

With the 18" x 2.15" rear wheel, the largest tire you should consider is a 120. With the 17" x 2.5" rear mag wheel, you can go up one size to 130.

I suggest looking at the parts fishe to compare part numbers. http://www.alpha-sports.com/suzuki_parts.htm The 1000S used an 18" rear so you might want to compare the spacer part numbers between that model and the 1000E wheel spacers and look for mismatches. Seems to me one of the spacers is a different part number, but don't know what the real world difference is.

What was wrong with the wheels off of your bike?

Nothing up with mine but as I was offered these for next to nothing I was think of getting them as spares.
