The springs get shorter with age.

Life is too short to ride an L.

Which pre-load setting were you using when it broke? If you were comfortable on the first or second setting, those springs have tons of life left in them.

I assumed he would have others available?

I never rode the bike. Bought it last September and started the tear down in early February. So I can't tell you what it rode like.

It broke as I was trying to remove the shocks.

Have pinged him an email just to see what he has got. I figure I have nothing to lose.

For adjustability, ride quality, and life (rebuildable), I say you can't go past the Ikons... sure there's a price premium but they are top shocks.

Considering Marzocchi's are red and suit the Kat's well I would think just the stock cherry red would work just fine colour wise.

While you probably won't have any hassles with the Hagons, Progressives, etc., there is also the added benefit of support being in Aus...

              Just my 2c though...

Yeah, that is exactly what I am leaning towards Pete. That or having some built locally. Local support is what I think I want, and someone who knows how to set it up, rather than just buying a unit and hoping for the best. Still haven't made my final decision yet though.....

                  Sounds fair to me!

Check with the Kat guys, there is someone around Brissie who will do some setup for you but I can't remember who now...
