    Aussie tyres/tires

Just wondering what everyone is using?
I just got a quote for Pirelli Sport Demons
    $165 for the front
    $190 for the rear
    Fitted
I asked him about BT45's and he said they used to recommend them but the technology is a bit out of date and they feather( which is exactly what mine are doing).
Anyway just after opinions as our choices are different to the US.

Just ring around for the best quote. When replaced my front on the VFR, the difference was about $40.

Go the Demons, I haven't even thought of anything else since I first put 'em on!

There's one of the Katana guys who swears by the BT45's but nearly everyone else I ride with has Demons and love them.

My only issue is I seem to kill the centre of the rear in about 5500km's but I'm convinced it's the profile that's too pointy from putting it on my tiny 1.85" rim. I'm thinking next time of going down from a 110/90-18 to a 100/90-18 to see if that lets it live a little longer... not sure how that will feel with the same size front tyre on though...

I can't remember the last rear tyre price but the first pair I bought from Tyres 4 Bikes was $318 fitted including a front tube. 100/90-18 front, 110/90-18 rear.

Another 500km's or so and I'll be up for another rear by the looks...

There's also a place at Brendale Mick's Bike and Car Tyres that some of the Kat guys recommend. http://www.mbct.com.au/

So I rang Tyres for Bikes.
He said price for Demons was pretty spot on.
I asked about other tyres and he poke quite highly of the Avons, he looked up the price and they are $348. His opinion was the Avons for the money, he did say they wouldnt last as long as the Pirelli's but that the ride was great.

Dunno what i am going to do, but i thought i would put up the info if anyone is interested.

I get 5500km's out of a rear... I'd better not go Avons then!

Although if they have a size more suited to my rim width they could give a better profile and if that's the issue I could get longer life...

Edit: Just saw Avons come in 90/90-18 and 100/90-18 which would be a better fit for the 450... now I've got some thinking to do next time 'round!

                  Enough of my blather...

He actually said that i would get the longest life out of the BT 45's, but ,maybe i would like the profile of the Demons more?
Basically he said its all personal choice, which i guess we all know is true.

I've heard the BT45's last longer, and the guy who runs them on the Kat form has 1360cc and lots of grunt so maybe they work well for him in that regard... but I've also heard others say they don't handle as well as the Demons, but no first hand experience on them for me to say for sure.

I've not had a problem with the BT45's and have run them since they stopped making the Spitfire's .
The sides seem to wear out before the centres though .
                        I don't know what I'm doing wrong .

                        Cheers , Simon .

                              On that note,
When you head down south, which way do you go Simon?
The coastal highway is pretty bloody straight.
