This is the one I got. It's nice but the handle is a bit fiddly since it's adjustable and it's been a pain in the a$$ to bleed. Waiting on a reverse bleeder to finally do it up proper. Also the hose from the reservoir to the piston/pump/whatever you want to call it had POS clamps that were leaking further compounding my bleeding issues.

Not too sure but if it's the diameter of the bit that moves in and out when you squeeze the handle you are referring too it can be much more than 3/8" if.

Single disc bikes need a 14mm master. Dual disc is 5/8" or 16mm. Don't buy the wrong size for your bike or you will change the characteristics of the brakes. A lot of the ebay/China masters are 14mm, but lately I've seen more 16mm jobbies. A master cylinder is an easy device to manufacture so Chinese cheapie should be okay..Ed

I've put quite a few of those 'Chinese cheapies' on bikes (they're often cheaper than OEM rebuild kits) and they're fine. Available for single and twin front discs.
An example: http://www.wemoto.com/parts/picture/ds-45500-463-601p/79 GS1000S
79 GS1000S (another one)
80 GSX750
80 GS550
80 CB650 cafe racer
75 PC50 - the one with OHV and pedals...
75 TS100 - being ridden (suicidally) by my father
