Make sure the master cylinder itself is original/OEM. I will say I've gotten a few parts with changes from my old parts that suzuki has made over the years. My tachometer gear sleeve was different, but worked fine.

Yea Thanks! Yea I'm confident the MC is original/oem. I dont know why or when the change? I figured there must be others who have dealt with this exact situation though?

Had a round type master from a 1981 1000GL and it had a longer plunger type kit inside. Later model 850 masters had the shorter plunger. My guess is your round top master is supposed to have the longer plunger.Ed

Thanks. I googled..not much there, definitely the new/right kit from what I gather. found one guy who said he left had to leave the washer out get the snap ring in and had brakes? I hate always being caught up with these sketchy details. I'm surprised there isnt a service bulletin floating around the net concerning this change?

kit came washer so that must be present..right..I dont have a vise set up right now which makes it even more difficult & my snap ring pliers are not long enough. This is what I tried/did installed everything & pushed the snap ring the rest but only to catch the upper groove. I am able to push plunger further in bore as designed but washer under snap ring wont go further down to even attemp to lower snap ring another groove I might have to try to track down a Suzuki tech for further answers?
