Centerstand Issue

So I've noticed on my bike that when the centerstand is up in it's normal position, the chain rubs right on top of the left side of the centerstand. It seems that the little bracket on the headers (a 4-to-1) that has a rubber plug is too high up, so the centerstand comes too high up and the chain starts to rub on the centerstand. I haven't seen if it goes away once you sit on it, but has anyone had this problem before?

Personall, no, I have not had that problem, but none of my bikes have chains.

I have seen mention of making a L-shaped bracket that will provide a stop for the center stand to keep it from doing that.

I hadn't noticed whether that was a problem on my 650G, either , but I reckon the centerstand does come up higher. The stock stand has a stop on it that would have hit the pipe right where there was a stop on the stock pipe.

With the current setup, the centerstand lashes around a bit on harsh bumps, and it slaps up against the frame. I would think that if might just rub if there was a chain in the vicinity.

Maybe you can just fit a thicker plug?

I tried to glue a piece of rubber to the current rubber stop on the bracket, but it only held up for a day or two.

Use some good contact cement and see what happens. Put it on both pieces and let it dry good. Then squish the two pieces together. Bet it will hold decently.

Loctite makes some decent, rubber to rubber glues. However, good old Gorilla Glue might be enough.

I've never had that issue on either of GSs. I don't recall how it was set up on my 750B but on both of 1000s there's a pad built into the port muffler/pass peg support.

There is a pad on my headers, but i think the bracket is angled too high, and needs more padding to lower the centerstand more.
