SS brake lines?

I'm just getting started on a rebuild on the brakes on my 81' GS1100E and would like to replace the brake lines also. Has anyone had any experience with Galfer lines? They have a pretty decent deal on Amazon for them. Any other alternatives?

Haven't heard of any bad SS lines, to be honest.

Other popular options are the seller "rennsport" on eBay (good quality, very affordable) and the ones sold on Z1 enterprises (don't recall the brand).

One advantage to doing your own is you can make sure the length and hose end angle configuration is correct for your particular need. For example, if you install lower than stock handlebars you need a different upper hose. Also, a lot of guys go with two full length lines on the front and skip the splitter block. This method is more reliable and cheaper since you have less joints in the system.

If you are not confident in your wrenching abilities, by all means buy some premade lines. At any rate, having options is good.

No experience with them yet, but I have my eye on the Galfer lines, too. Galfer seems to make brake lines for a lot of smaller companies/stores. The warranty is good, the materials are good, I don't think you can go wrong.

Another option is a local hydraulic repair shop, if you have one around. Before I go for the Galfers I might see if I can get someone in Cinci to make me a set of lines.

Spiegler Performance in Dayton, OH sells model specific ss brake line kits. They are expensive ($150.00 just for the front lines) but in another thread a forum member posted pictures of his set and they look very high quality. They come in a range of colors as well.

Scout do you have to call and special order? How does it work. I see they offer kits for Suzuki but only for vehicles.

Do you provide them with measurements from your existing lines and they go from there?
