front fender placement

ok sitting here waiting on surgery ,doing a few thing ,went to put the front fender on and to hit the tires , I was thinking on welding on a piece metal and drilling the holes, but how far off the tire should I place the fender ?

depends on your tastes. do you want it to look stock, be little closer, really close, or hugging the tire? what kind of look are you goin for?

what makes it look the best , rest of the bike is not stock but not a bobber !!
