    Renn Sport Auto

Hi, I was just curious if Renn Sport Auto is still recommended for getting the Stainless Steel brake lines from or not??? They don't seem to list lines for the 1981 GS1000GL, but do list them for the 1981 GS850GL. I am not close a computer for the next 2 days and only have my cell phone with me. Would someone know or be able to cross reference if the 1000 and the 850 share the same part numbers for the front and back brake lines. I am trying on my phone but the data loads keep causing the phone to lock up and freeze. Thanks if you can.

I bought a set for my 81' GS850 and I like them, good quality. Contact them, tell them what bike you have and they can look it up and make you a set. Some of the best money you can spend

I recommend him, good guy to talk with, quick shipping. I believe his price has gone up though but I believe he's still competitive.

Now to go back and answer your orginal question:

I find it somewhat interesting, but all the "L" models from 550 to 1100, from '80 to '83 use the same front upper brake hose.

The rear hose is only shared by the 850, 1000 and 1100 L models for the same years.

Thanks for the quick responses and information guys. I was getting a little pi$$ed off at having to remove the battery and restart my phone constantly from these web searches. Now off to order needed parts. Brakes were good last fall, but the winter gremlins came and messed with them a little. Hopefully nothing to bad. But when the fluid is really low and there is no visible leaks any where, it usually is the lines starting to separate. Should have been proactive and had the lines on hand ready go. Thanks again and I will report back on the service from Renn Sport Auto when I get my order.

I highly recommend Raymond,,,I think is his name. I've had him make me custom lines for both of my 72 and 73 Yamaha's. I actually made a mistake and the lines didn't turn out right. Wrong ends. My fault. He changed the ends out for me for free and paid return shipping. Very good guy to work with and super fast service.

Just a quick note regarding the banjo bolts, if you have any double banjo bolts, check the ones they ship as the one I got with my kit was too short.

I cleaned up the old one and reused it, not sure if he has found a new supplier for the longer bolts as I showed him the problem about 18 months ago and at that time that's all he had.

I recommend them and great customer service.

Yeah, I sort of wish he would make the banjo bolts optional (and charge a buck or two less) since I always toss them and reuse the far superior OEM ones anyway. I asked him about this once and he said "nope, sorry, you get the bolts". Good service on the whole, though. Cheap, good quality, good on communication, quick turnaround. Can't complain.

Renn Sport Auto home page on the internet has his toll free number. Phoned Raymond up and placed my order Friday morning, and in less than 5 minutes I was invoiced for my lines. Paid my invoice and lines are on there way to me. So far so good. I will let you know when I get them.

Lines arrived in 4 days. Yeh, now if only my other caliper parts would get here. Lines look great and match up good. They are a little smaller diameter than the stock ones. Will have to use some tape or shrink tube material in order for the brake stay clamps to work, but other wise everything is good.
