GS1100E fork T-Handle?

    GS1100E fork T-Handle?

    The service manual calls for a T-handle to remove the damper rod to replace the fork seals. I believe it is a hex end. Does anyone know what size it is, where to get one, an alternative tool? Has anyone been able to remove the damper without one? I've searched "t-handle" on GSR but the search results include every mention of "handle." I think the damper could remove itself by the time I could find the right thread.

    Also, is there a way to bring the front of the bike down an inch? It seems to ride about a half inch to an inch higher than my ES.

    I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

      19 MM headed bolt welded into electrical conduit. main shaft at least 20 inches long. Section of conduit welded as the grip. I stick the handle in the vice to hold the tool and slip the fork lower over and get it locked in. Then use the ratchet and socket with the allen heads to remove the bottom bolt.

      Sometimes a good air impact will snap the bolts out without needing the tool though.

        19mm. one of my bikes the all thread wouldn't work so I had to make up an alternative. Easy out in a socket ( with set screw) used with extensions.

            OK that worked. The damper is out but although the manual says to "draw out" the inner tube, it seems to be stuck before the end of the inner tube comes out. Does it have to be forced past a tight point at the seal?

            Edit: Ignore that. There was a different style dust cover that was hiding the spring clip. Once I removed it, I was able to complete the dis-assembly.

            I would still like to know how to lower the front a bit though.
