GS550 New Ebay master cylinder or other ones - help needed...

Hello, I need to replace a leaking front master for my 78 GS550... I am looking on ebay for 5/8 master (China) since my bike has dual discs... but I would much rather buy a few years old original master from a street bike like Yamaha, Kawa, Honda, Suzuki,... does anybody know how large are the pistons in CBR600, gsxr, zzr,....
did anyone ever used such a master?

I've got one from a GSXR on my (dual disc) CB650. Works a treat and handy on the ace bars as the angle of the dangle of the reservoir is adjustable.

You are leary of Chinese parts but a master is a simple piece of kit and very hard to get wrong.

I've used these in the past and recommend them. Even has the mirror stay. And being 16mm/5/8 it is ideal for dual disc bikes.

The Kawasaki EX650 master is a reasonable option. Some years have the mirror boss. I put one on my KZ750 and it seems to work fine. Reservoir angles down a little is my only complaint.

Recommend stay away from cheap repos. Great product from usa-motorcycles-inc on ebay. Have bought two from him and they are very high qualitity and support is terrific if you need help. Quick response to any question. I had a problem with bleeding one of them and they took me thru all types of situations that might help. Turns out it was me, not the product. Can get all types of finish on master and lever. Based in Florida. Check them out.

I replaced my brakes on my 78 gs550 to twin disc and fitted a 1997 suzuki bandit 600 master cylinder(1200 is same) lots on flea bay

it has same mirror mount thread as original and cap seals better than old master cylinder, its marked 5/8 underneath, works great and has adjustable brake lever which is an improvement. also is shorter in length so fits better on handlebars better than possible dodgy Chinese in my view

I was using (and still have) Yamaha XJ900 master cylinders, which came in cheap as NOS a few years back. When looking for a more modern replacement, I happened upon the Deauville MC, which has a nice click-stop span-adjust lever as part of the package.
Frankly, I'd rather rebuild a decent OEM one than risk my neck with real cheap brake parts of dodgy origin and unknown quality control. I'll happily cheap out on some other things, but not that.
