Setting the bead
After refurbishing my front wheel, I succesfully mounted the tire. However, when airing it up, I never heard the beads pop into place. Everything looks good and it's not leaking at all. did you lube the bead?
If you set the tire whell assembly in the bright warm sunshine the expansion fromt he heat should pop that for you.

I just used some windex as a lube to get the tire on the wheel. Didn't lube the bead before airing it up. It's not mounted on the bike yet. I suspect if I let the air out, the tire will pull away from the wheel. get some god fearing tire lube and be done with it
I doubt it cost much
do not use dishsoap it will corrode your rims

Before you do anything inspect the bead. It could very well be that the tire is evenly seated already. The tube type wheels used on most GS's often don't "pop" when inflating the tires.Ed

These wheels are stamped "Tubeless tire Applicable", and I'm using Shinko 230's with no tube. To satisfy your curiosity, look just above the rim, there should be a mold line about 1/8" from the edge of the rim.
It should be even all the way around both sides. If it dips out of sight below the edge of the rim, re-seat the tire.
