    Front axle pinch bolt

    Hey guys, I somehow lost the bolt on the front fork pinching the front axle. I looked up the diagram and it doesnt tell the size of the bolt. I figure I can get the part at any hardware store if I knew what the bolt was. in the diagram, it is numbers 12, 13, 14, and 15. Thanks guys! and yes, this time I will loctite the bolt!<img src="http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=40488&amp;stc=1" attachmentid="40488" alt="" id="vbattach_40488" class="previewthumb">

    your picture is small, but #12 is the bolt and it's part# 01107-08508 so that would make it an M8 bolt by 50mm in length

        more than likely a nut......

        now here is the trick to know the size of most of the bolts when looking at the parts fiche

        part# 01107-08508

        the part after the dash usually will give you the info you were looking at

        the 08 in this case tells you it's a M8 bolt

        the 50 tells us it's 50mm in length

        the last digit we don't care about....

        so you could see something like

        part# 01107-03128

        and that would be a M3 X 12mm bolt.....

          FYI. The last digit, as stated you can mostly ignore, is what Suzuki calls a modifier. It can be either a number or letter and in the case of a bolt it can represent either it's colour (black, chrome, cad, etc) or possibly it's hardness. I saw a chart for it once but can't seem to find it right now. Anyone else seen it?

          EDIT: Found it, anymore useless info you need? LOL

          from what i can tell the part number is 02142-05125?

          05 - M5
          12 - 12mm length
          5 - black

          that applies to all suzuki bolts... the last number obviously varies depending on the finish...

          3=ZINC OLIVE DRAB
          5=BLACK
          6=ZINC ,GOLD PASSERVATE
          7=CHROME
          B=BLACK
          8=ZINC BZP

            Yebbut; be sure what you're buying at the hardware store is a properly rated bolt for a fork leg and not for a farm gate.
