Front hand brake - spring loaded

    Hey there,

I have just bought myself an 84 Suzuki GS400 and trying to get it ready for the road. However I am trying to figure out what I am missing. I've contacted my local suzuki parts dealer and they ordered me in a brake light switch assembly which is this style:

I tried installing as is but every time I would press the brake handle the light would come on and stay on after releasing. Is there a spring that sits on the contact holder that retracts it from touching the switch that's missing? I've been calling around and looking everywhere but can't seem to find anything.

the holes that the 2 screws go thru should be slots allowing for some adjustment. try loosening the screws and moving the unit back and forth a little to see if the lights work right.

I'll give that a go. From what you call tell though is that assembly everything I should need? Or is there something that should be sitting between the handle and the contact holder?

that should be all you need. maybe the little plastic piece on the right (in your picture) isn't engaging the brake handle correctly.
