GS750 master cylinder rebuild
So I was taking apart my master cylinder to clean it up. Any chance that there's a good write up for this. Also the little boot. Does that need to be intact? I noticed a small tear in mine. The bike is a 77 750Tags: None

Most motorcycle master cylinders are very similar just watch a couple of you tube videos and dive in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mTi4Pitk4M.
If it were me, and I didn't know when the brakes were done last, I would go ahead and put new OEM seals in it. It is possible that it would work just fine with the current parts, but your brakes are pretty important.
Take pictures as you disassemble.Regards,
Jason

When you get it apart use a flashlight and inspect the bore for pitting in the aluminum. Pitts = junk master. Sadly, water in the fluid often leads to pitted metal but hopefully that doesn't apply in this case.Ed
To measure is to know.

Thanks. I'm having trouble getting the little snap ring out. I'll let you know how the bore works once I'm back at the garage with the proper pliers

I'd suggest getting a rebuild kit. It comes with the rubber boot you mentioned. The boot seals between the bore and piston and is needed to keep water and dirt out.Jordan
