79 GS750L tire question
Old newbie here and was wondering if I could replace my front 100-90-19 tire with a 110-90-19 tire? Looking for just a little beefier look. My rear is the standard 130-90-17.Tags: None

A 110 is a little wide for the wheel width. It will make steering heavy too and may not clear the fender. Form follows function, not the other way around.Ed
To measure is to know.

Your rear tire is a 17?
I thought that most of the "L" bikes had a 16" rear.
The other posters are correct, don't go over 100 on the front.
If you want a "beefier look", get a cruiser bike that came with one standard.
If you want an "L" that can still handle (well, as well as an L can handle), stick with the skinny stuff.

ok understood, how about a front tire a little taller what size would I be looking at? Yes my rear tire is 130-90-17.

If you still have a fender, there isn't much room for a taller tire.
The 100 that you have on there is already larger than stock, what is the urge for something that is even larger?
To safely install a larger tire, you will need a larger rim. I know the 1100 shafties had a wider rim, not sure about the other 1100s. I believe your rim is probably 1.85 wide, the 1100G had a 2.15.

The fender is not on right now and my reason for taller was mostly for looks. Would the front rim from the 1100G fit my forks? I have the 5 spoke aluminum wheels with dual disc's up front. Learning more about the bike now too from previous owner, it has been bored to 849 cc's , electronic ignition and 29 mm smooth bore carbs with the old style kirker header 4 to 1.

Yes, you can physically stuff a 110/90-19 on there.
No, it won't handle right with the wrong size tire.
