    front brake piston and

dust boots. I am running low on patience and after searching, can not find the answer I am looking for. I checked the FSM to no avail but I think I saw some suggestions on here previously as to how to install the piston and dust boot into the caliper. I need help!!!!!

Am I missing something here or is it really hard to make the dust boot fit with the piston?

    TIA,

    Larry

You're not missing anything, it's a royal pain. Can't remember which way finally worked for me, either putting the dust boot on first and fitting the piston through it or putting it on the piston first.

Slip the dust boot over the piston right to the base..stopping "just" as its about to slide off. Carefully work the dust seal into the caliper groove and then shove the piston into the caliper well.

I have found some help on BikeCliff's site but this thing is kicking my butt big time. The Monkey and the football analogy comes to mind.

I will sure be glad when it is over and back on the road again.

        Thanks guys,

Chucks advice is correct. Slip the boot over the closed end of the piston, just enough to get it to stay. Install the lip of the boot into the groove on the caliper while holding up the piston and then push the piston into the bore. Last thing is to place the boot into the groove on the piston after the piston is shoved all the way down.

I just want to send a big shout out to Chuck Hahn and Ed (Nessism) for some great advice. Your input made this piston boot assembly a breeze. Nothing like good advice from experienced and competent forum members.
Thanks again guys, my bike will be road ready tomorrow as long as it doesn't get too hot and humid inside my garage.
