    Bandit swingarm

Working on the Bandit front and rear suspension swap on the '80 1100, have a few issues. I had my buddy Jack machine up some new spacers. The swingarm hits the rear brake actuator arm, and is REALLY close to the brake pedal spring mount. Anyone else done this and solved these issues" It looks like a little grinding will clear, but maybe there is a more creative solution?

You can see my GSXR conversion thread' use offset spacers.

Here is the modified rear brake pivot knuckle. I cut off the little arms and rewelded them about 5 mm each to provide clearance for both the rear brake plunger rod and the return springs between the frame and the bandit swinger. A 4.5 mm offset to the Bandit arm is required to accomplish this. No other spacers behind the master are required. Basically this allows me to keep the stock pegs, rear brake pedal and master cylinder and no welding on the frame. Here is the finished modified part:

And here is the final clearance achieved.

Thanks. That is still awfully tight. Oh well, you don't really need a rear brake anyway
Any idea how thick the swingarm material is?

        There is no interference.

I'm not even going to answer that last question.

A lot of us fab brackets for rearsets. Eliminates the space issue. Pos's method is effective for retaining stock brake /footpeg setup.

One can use rear sets and place them where ever you please. I am doing a build with a bandit swinger also and my knees aren't the best either. I will try keep the stock location, adjust for my 35" inseam/handlebar/seat combo and it should be more comfy.

I dare say they will not be rearsets rather front sets then.

I am not thinking of grinding for clearance. Rather insetting half of a 1" .125 wall tube vertically at the point of interference and fully welding it in. That would provide another 3/8 clearance. I have to weld on shock mounts anyway. The swingarm already has so many welds, I don't think a couple more will hurt. NOTE: I am not an engineer. However I can't see how this would compromise integrity if done by a competent welder (not me!) although I guess there is some risk of warpage. It just seems a more elegant solution. The rearset idea is good but my goal is to not cut or weld anything that can't be undone.
