First sign of progress. rebuilt brakes

Finally got my calipers back from powder coating and got them all reassembled with new parts...the first thing I have put back together since getting this bike. It has all been tear apart, clean, scrub, replace. I think they look pretty
it may not seem like much, but I have never worked on a motorcycle. I am learning something new every day and having fun doing it.
I appreciate this site and feel especially lucky to have bought an 80 GS850G considering how much info is on the bikecliff website!!

I replaced the seals, cups, boots, all bolts, bleeder...even the bleeder cap! I honed the piston and meticulously scraped the seal groove back to smooth. I think I may be going overboard but unless the bolts clean up to like new...they are getting replaced.

I was the kid who would watch my big brother build these intricate multiple stage model rockets as a kid but when I tried, I would throw a fit trying to piece together a simple tube, cone, and three fins....I would swear and stomp on it with frustration. This kind of stuff is way out of my wheelhouse. Trying to teach myself patience and believe that I can actually do it

I was the kid who would just buy the rocket already assembled, throw an engine in it , and fly. The main difference is when it broke I couldn't fix it.

This site and folks like you are an inspiration to break old learned habits, step out of our comfort zone and do the necessary repairs.
