    new tyre

well ive got my new rear tyre for my gs 850 but when i tried to take the old tyre off it seems to have a tube in it although ive had the tyre walls squashed in my vice to break the bead it doesn't seem to break I've had the vice tightened as tight as i can what am i doing wrong it just doesn't seem to be breaking the bead all the how tos ive watched the beed seems to break with no problem by the way it says tubeless on the side off the rim HELP

    A couple of options:

    - take it to a shop with a real tire bead breaker machine/tool

    - cut the tire off the bead. A dremel tool with fiberglass reinforced cut off tool works for this application.

Well it's a very expensive machine that like all auto shops have. You put the tire on it and it locks in place, then there's a bar that comes down and locks in place and you push the foot pedal and the wheel will spin in a circle. The wheel will come off in seconds.

I'll try to fix this link later but if you go to photobucket and download the photo you can see how to make a redneck tire bead breaker.

use a 2 by 4 and a shorter 2x4 and a car bumper or some other immovable object. edit, just actually checked nessisms link, do that. you can bevel the end of the short 2x4 if you wanna get fancy. it's not even that redneck, for that seat the new bead with ether.

I put a block of wood between the back jaw of the vise and the rim and the front jaw as close to the rim as I couldo to break one side. Then turned the wheel around and did the same for the other side.

If the tyre has had a puncture they will often put a tube in as well as a plug.
                    Current:
Z1300A5 Locomotive (swapped my Intruder for it), GS450 Cafe Project (might never finish it....), XT500 Commuter (I know - it's a Yamaha )

                    Past:
                    VL1500 Intruder (swapped for Z1300), ZX9R Streetfighter (lets face it - too fast....), 1984 GSX750EF, 1984 GSX1100EF (AKA GS1150)
And a bunch of other crap Yamahas....

Yes, on Basscliff's site though you'll want to ignore the part about Photobucket as they feel they don't need users.
