Rear brake rebuild with issues..

Hey guys.

I cleaned out my 77 gs750's rear caliper/pistons and installed suzuki seals. The piston dust boots were aftermarket though. Anyway, with the pistons retracted all the way, my new pads rub really hard on the rotor. On the center stand I can only rotate the wheel 1/4 turn.

Without the boots the pads have clearance and the wheel turns freely. I triple checked the boot installation and they are properly seated in the piston groove.

I know you should have some drag, but this seems excessive. Any ideas?

So the aftermarket dust boot is preventing the piston from fully retracting into the caliper?
Do you still have the stock boot from before the rebuild?
If there is a thickness discrepancy I wouldn't think buying a new oem boot would be too expensive.

Where the wheel spacers properly installed when the wheel was reinstalled?
same for the brake arm stay?

I have a pair of OEM dust seals that look identical and I could swap them out. The old seals are pretty flat from age it appears.

I only removed the caliper from the bracket so nothing else should be at play here.
