    GS750EC fork inners

Hi folks, has anyone replaced their fork inner tubes? Mine are rather the worse for wear with pitting along the tubes, and bubbling of the chrome up near the lower triple clamp.
Re-chroming is probably not an option here in Western Australia as there's only a couple of reputable chromers and they charge like a wounded bull!! In any case, re-chroming would not fix the pitting and any amount of rubbing back would not work.
Tarozzi forks in Italy make replacements (expensive!) but are there any other options?
    TIA
    Cheers, Andy

Fork stanchions need to be ground and hard-chromed in order to get the smooth surface finish. It's not a cheap process. I've often found that the price is comparable to buying new parts. But if 'new' is not available, your options are limited.

This would be a good time for a visit to a motorcycle junkyard.

I'm not sure exactly what would interchange with your model, or what differences there might be between US and AUS models so you'll need to research that. But there are quite a few GS models that could work.

I saw a guy at CB750C forums use silver solder in the pitting and smooth it out. Probably as many man hours as dollars, if I had to guess. I just scour forums looking for parts. Straight, clean forks tend to be rare.

They're basically hydraulic rams so you could just bend the ears of some heavy equipment operators..they likely have similar issues often enough with dirt and stones.

Thanks for the responses folks.....I think I'll sell my left kidney and purchase some Tarozzis!
Seriously, there's no urgency yet...I have to get my Honda CB500K1 restoration rideable first (a few months away), then I can take the Suzi "off-line", so to speak!
