Air forks GS850GLT

Just found out that I have air forks. And that the left one is not holding pressure. Seems to hold until I remove the pump, then loses all pressure.
Is there a quick fix or do i need to replace, if so are there forks from other models that would be a good upgrade?

Your best "repair" is to contact Sonic Springs and get replacement springs. Take a look at their calculator to select the proper rate. Depending on your personal "gravitational attraction", I would guess you would want the 1.0 or 1.1 springs.

While you have the forks apart, it would be good to replace the seals, too. They are what is likely not holding the air pressure, but with the new springs, you will not need to add any air pressure. Use the correct quantity of 10w fork oil and you will be good to go.

As Steve said you will need new seals, fork oil and the Sonic Springs. You can get Progressives through a local dealer sure but your better springs will be the Sonic ones and at a really good price.

To answer the question you asked: Find out where the air is leaking from by using soapy water applied around the caps, air valve and lower forks. The air is leaking where it creates bubles. Replace the seal at those places. As I recall there are only 4 places where it can leak. Each fork leg needs to be exactly the same pressure. Don't exceed max specified in the manual. I ran 12psi in my 650g and filled it with a little bicycle hand pump that had a built in gauge. That's the cheap fix. New springs and cartridge emulators are the best way but that's more Brass. I also have the forks that accept air. Mine however would hold air but it didnt hold a candle to what everyone else is suggesting. I did sonic springs, 15w oil and just dont use any air. The bike is now a magic carpet ride. If your not holding air I suspect seals.
