GS1100G Front Brake Calipers on an GS850G?
I'm in the process of talking with another member about purchasing a pair of front brake calipers from his 1982 GS1100G, as an upgrade to put onto my 1979 GS850G. I want to know if the calipers are a direct bolt on or would I also need to install the rotors from the 1100? He'd be selling me the master cylinder as well. Just want to know what I'm getting myself into here if I pull the trigger.Last edited by RustyTank; 06-11-2019, 03:04 PM.Ryan

Wally do you need the later rotors as well? That's the one thing I couldn't recall off hand.
I know the older rotors are a different (detached spider) design and both heavier and thicker at the hub....1980 GS1000G - Sold

Additionally, It's my understanding that the rear caliper didn't change much over the years on these bikes. My hope is that if a later year rotor IS in fact a direct bolt on that it won't affect the stock 79 rear caliper.Ryan
